Knit Taylor Slouch Beanie

I LOVE this hat. It was a little loose on my head but I have a small head. I'm still trying to figure out gauge and sizes.

It's a quick and easy project. I love the look of the purl (which some would say is the wrong side of the stockinette stitch).

SUPPLIES:

Yarn Super Bulky - Loops & Threads Charisma Tweed in Honey
9mm & 10mm Circular needles
10mm Double Pointed Needles (DPN)
Yarn Needle with large eye
Scissors
Stitch Marker
Pom Pom Maker (optional)

Abbreviations:

co - cast on
k - knit 1
p - purl 1
m1 - make one (knit wise)
k2tog - knit 2 together

BRIM:

Starting with the 9mm needles:
co 40 stitches
add stitch marker & join the round
k2, p2 all the way around
Repeat until desired width of brim is achieved
Mine was 6 rounds.

MAIN HAT:

Switching to the 10mm needles. You can choose to Knit or Purl the remaining pattern. For the purpose of this pattern, I will use Knit since I'm more comfortable with Knit stitches.

Round 1: k1 all the way around
Round 2: *k4, m1. Repeat from * all the way around

What you're doing is k1 all the way around adding a m1 8 times to increase the body of the hat. (40/8 = 5) m1 every 5th stitch = *k4, m1 

Round 3- 13: k1 all the way around

DECREASE ROUNDS: Switch to DPNs at anytime you are too tight on the circular needles.

Round 1: k4, k2tog, Repeat all the way around
Round 2: k1 all the way around
Round 3: k3, k2tog, Repeat all the way around
Round 4: k2, k2tog, Repeat all the way around
Round 5: k1, k2tog, Repeat all the way around
Round 6: k2tog all the way around and keep going until you're ready to weave yarn through to tighten. Secure yarn and weave in all ends.

Since I knit the hat in stockinette and wanted the purl (reverse stockinette) side, I flipped it inside out to make sure the ends and knots are on the KNIT side (inside) 

Make pom pom with pom pom maker or make with hand.
